Some stories begin with a strategic business plan. Others begin with a dream. The story of DEEZ CARDS begins somewhere much more personal - in a Mayo Clinic hospital bed in Rochester, Minnesota, and eventually leads all the way to Altamont, New York.

On Saturday, the 12^th of September, DEEZ CARDS will celebrate the opening of its brick-and-mortar location at 103 Park Street in Altamont, marking a major milestone in a journey that started with a lifelong passion for collecting and grew into something with a much bigger purpose.

From a Hospital Bed to a Hobby Shop

For founder JD Cochran, collecting was not simply a hobby. It became a source of hope during one of the most difficult chapters of his life. In 2015, JD suffered his first grand mal seizure and spent a week on life support. As JD and his family searched for answers, their journey eventually brought them across the country to the Mayo Clinic. In 2017, JD underwent the first of three brain surgeries to treat intractable epilepsy.

During his recovery, JD turned toward something he had always loved: the hobby. From his hospital bed, DEEZ CARDS began to take shape. What started as a personal passion project eventually grew into an online sports card and memorabilia business serving collectors across the country. But somewhere along the way, the cards became about more than collecting. They became a reminder that even during the hardest moments, there can be something to look forward to, something to build, and something to share with others.

More Than a Card Shop

Today, DEEZ CARDS describes its mission in two simple words: Collect & Connect.

That philosophy is at the heart of the new Altamont store.

DEEZ CARDS is being built as a home for the hobby: a place where longtime collectors, first-time buyers, families, sports fans, and TCG players can all feel welcome. The goal is to create a community where people can buy, sell, trade, learn, discover, and share their passion for collecting.

Whether you are hunting for a favorite player's rookie card, ripping open a new pack, searching for a graded slab, building a Pokémon collection, or simply looking to talk cards with someone who understands the hobby, DEEZ CARDS wants to be that place. The store's inventory will include sealed sports card products, singles, graded cards, memorabilia, supplies, and trading card games including Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering. Collectors can expect products spanning baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, and more, along with a rotating selection of vintage and modern singles.

The opening in Altamont represents the next chapter for DEEZ CARDS. After beginning as a passion project and growing online, the business is now creating a physical home for collectors throughout the Capital Region and Upstate New York.
